Prevent Wrinkles Naturally

Being wrinkle free naturally can be accomplished with some life style changes: breaking old habits, and preventing new ones. Believe it or not, the advice your Mother gave you growing up does ring true in wrinkle prevention.

For instance you should avoid making 'ugly' faces on a regular basis - such as grimacing and frowning. Of course you can’t go through life having no expression, but don’t go through life over exaggerating, either. Some people are very animated, and it might be difficult to 'tone down' the personality, but it is important to pay attention to this - because we know that contorting our face on a continual basis does tend to lead to deep lines and wrinkles.

Here's a helpful tip: Wearing sunglasses not only protects your eyes, but keeps you from squinting reducing the wrinkles around your eyes.

You already know this, but we'll tell you again: overexposure to the sun is almost always more harmful than helpful. Of course you can't stay inside forever, and everyone needs a little sunshine. Soak up your natural Vitamin D the smart way: remember to ALWAYS use sunscreen and reapply it after being in the water. Try to schedule your outdoor activities in the morning or early evening when the most harmful rays are minimal. And most importantly, avoid tanning salons - as they use ultraviolet lights that damage the deep skin tissue and directly cause wrinkles. Don't forget - recent news about tanning beds indicates that using them can increase your chances of getting skin cancer by as much as 75%.

If you smoke: STOP! This eliminates the creation of the wrinkles that develop around the mouth and heals a ton of other health issues caused by the habit. Some say, that sucking your drinks from a straw also create lines around the mouth.

If you’re losing weight do it slowly, rapid weight loss is not only dangerous for your health but can cause wrinkling on your face.

Try to break the habit of sleeping on your side and sleep on your back, placing a pillow under your knees may help to make this position more comfortable. Some have said that silk pillows help, but it's best to just learn to sleep on your back to prevent facial wrinkles.

Your diet is an important factor in reducing wrinkles. Foods high in antioxidants encourage skin rejuvenation which means the deep skin cells are pushed out of the skin allowing new strong cells to take over and grow. Broccoli, spinach and tomatoes are high in antioxidants along with lettuce, carrots, orange and red peppers and even beer.

And finally, your skin care program is key. Take care of your skin washing your face daily with mild cleanser and apply moisturizers while your face is still damp. If you dry your face with a towel, blot it dry. The same is true when applying makeup, always BLOT the foundation especially under your eyes. Rubbing can stretch and damage the skin.

Keep in mind that with age come wrinkles, but early prevention and making a life style change now can make a difference in the severity and depth of those wrinkles.
